Carondelet, December 17, 1838
Right Reverend Joseph Rosati
Your Lordship:
You will pardon the liberty I take in writing to report to you that I had the votes taken for my dear Sister St. John [Fournier]; she received all of them, which gives me great pleasure. We ardently desire that if Your Lordship judges proper you come to receive her vows on the 27th of this month, which is her feast day.
Please, Your Lordship, honor us with an answer in order that we may prepare the Sister for the day you will designate.
If I am not being indiscreet, I beg Your Lordship to be kind enough to come and examine the Sister.
I have the honor to be with the highest consideration,
Your very humble and obedient daughter in J.C.
Sister Marie Delphine [Fontbonne]

Today is also the day that Jeanne Fontbonne, Mother St. John, received the habit in 1778.
